Question: Does anyone know of a volunteer organization that would pair me up with a young adult who has special needs? My children and I would love to take him/her out for ice cream or do other fun activities with him/her about once or twice a month.

Thank you and your family for making this generous offer! I recommend that you contact Texas Parent to Parent. Here's their web address: txp2p.org. They offer a mentor/buddy program for families. Also, they may be able to offer more suggestions for places to volunteer.

I also thank you for your interest and encourage your sense of community! The ARC of the Capitol Area has a program where adults are matched with a "buddy" for social outings.
