Question: We are looking for anyone with a daughter with special needs who might be able to interact with our daughter, Elona. She is 12 years old with about an 8-year old's cognitive level, and was initially diagnosed as ADD. We have been home-schooling her for 4 years now, and she has improved enormously under the programs developed by the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (www.iahp.org), but she is sorely lacking in social interactions. Could your daughter perhaps become her friend? Renee and Michael

email to a friend |

I have a 16 yr old attending special education at Stephen F. Austin High School. Outside of school, she has no friends. Marissa is overly attached to me and realizes that she is different than others. Marissa has ADD and at times ADHD, but no problems at school. However, she is presenting a problem with me, she sees me as her friend and therefore it's difficult to deal with her at times. Marissas cognitive level is very low as well, and she prefers to be around simialr people or little kids. I think that has a lot to do with her cognitive level. But, yes I would be interested in at least letting the girls meet and go from there. May I ask, what, if any medication are you using for Elonas ADD? And, is there a good special needs Dr. in which you recommend?

Are you still looking for someone to interact with your daughter? I have a 16 1/2 year old daughter with special needs and I would like to find someone for her to socialize with. Thanks, 4mychild
