Question: I have a 7 year old boy who was diagnose with Cerebral Palsy at birth. I have been fighting with his pediatrician about his weight. His weights fluctuates from 30-36 pounds and his dietitian says he looks healthy and is doing fin but his pedi is trying to convince me he's too skinny and needs a feeding tube. Now, a child with any special needs gets accustomed to certain things and they like routine. Well in my case, my son loves eating. This is one thing he knows how to do that I don't want to take from him. Any one have any advice on foods? On calorie builders? On another pediatrician?

I have a sister who also has cp. My parents went though the same thing.they decided not to do the feeding tube, she loves to eat and is able to do so. Why take it away? All children with cp are going to be skinny there muscle are not able to build like others.my parents give her stuff that has lots of cal ories in it like hungry man dinners or big macs from mcdonalds. She loves them! They also do ensure drinks with her meal. I would not have the feeding tube in my opinion.
