The Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome (VCFS)/22q11 deletion/DiGeorge Austin-area Interest Group is a group of parents formed to provide support and resources to individuals with a 22q11 deletion/DiGeorge sequence and their families.
The Austin-area group is networked with the international Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome Educational Foundation - an organization comprised of both professional and lay people whose purpose is to educate the public, the scientific community, families of individuals with VCFS and individuals with VCFS about this common genetic disorder. There is a great deal of important scientific research being conducted about this syndrome, including evaluating the specialized needs of people with VCFS in the areas of speech, health, behavior and neuroprocessing, which allows parents and professionals to assist people with VCFS in achieving their full potential.
