I have not had Good luck with Cook's Children Neurology. My son was diagnosed with a stroke at birth and he has epilepsy because of it. Dr. McGlothlin deceided he was going to lower my son's meds when he was 9 months old when he had only been without a seizure for 3 months. When they did he started seizing again. I called and the Dr.'s exact words were "You'll just have to learn to deal with it." Not the words of a caring Doctor. We now see Dr. So at Texas Child Neurology in Plano. Well worth the drive!!! My son is now almost 3 years old and is happy and healthy. Dr. So really takes the time. Everytime we come in he spends at leat an hour in the room with us. I would recommend him to anyone.

Brent and I have always felt the support we need going to Dr. Acosta at Cook's Children in Ft. Worth. Through out life you have some doctors that you run across that do not take the time to listen and feel what you are feeling and talk directly at you instead of about you. From the very first appt. we had with him, he spoke directly to Brent. That told me ALOT. Brent loves him. I have gotten to know several of the staff with Cook's and want to express to anyone looking for a team that supports each other and you as a patient that this one is amazing to us. Along with Dr. Acosta there is Dr. Marks, Dr. Honeycutt and support staff Marriann, Sheila, Julie, Eunis, Carri Ann and Kat ( they planned the lucheon for today). I am bad at names and I know there is more there that have went out of their way and to those as well I really appreciate. I just wanted to get part of Brent's story to you and let you know the support you have. You are not alone. I hope you give them a chance they have made a great improvement to our lives.

The medical team at Cook's saved my son's life. He has a very rare condition that causes seizures among other things, and he was put on a medication that was not working for him. Our previous pediatric neurologist would not listen to us when we told him repeatedly that the medication was causing severe problems--he just kept increasing the dose. In one year's time he degenerated from a reasonably healthy little boy into an emaciated, catatonic child who could barely function. We had to wait five months to get him into Cook's, and he could not even walk by himself without falling the day we had our initial appt. The doctors at Cook's took immediate action and after 6 days of wonderful care in their hospital, he showed amazing improvement. Now, roughly 13 months later, it is difficult to recognize our son as being the same child. He is healthy, thriving, and has his personality back. We have not come across a single person there, from the doctors, nurses, techs, to the clerical and maintenance workers, who have not been exceptionally friendly and caring. I am sorry that some have not felt they received the care they needed, but as for us--we thank God regularly for the people at Cook's.
