Texas Autism Advocacy is not a parent support group nor a service provider. Texas Autism Advocacy is about talking to key policy makers about the kinds of change desperatedly needed by families affected by autism spectrum disorder:
like decent insurance coverage;
like services in the Medicaid waiver programs that are appropriate for people with autism;
like hands-on, in-the-classroom teacher training;
like trained staff in day care centers;
like adult programs and supports that make sense and much, much more.
Our formal mission is to “Create systemic change by identifying practical solutions that will positively affect the lives of people affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders, then work with Texas legislators, state agencies, and private institutions to introduce, advocate for, and implement these solutions through meaningful legislation, policy changes, or projects.”
