This is a fully-inclusive, nonprofit day camp that has operated in Central Texas since 1993, and has never turned away any camper who wanted to attend. Scholarships are available. The web site, www.MagicCamp.com, recently won the KNOWbility award for accessibility.

Excellent camp! My kids were campers for several years and LOVED it. They are now teens (18/15) and are working as counselors. To become a counselor, former campers must attend a minimum of 40 hours of Youth Leadership training (1 Saturday/ month Jan-June) on a variety of leadership and safety topics, including working with special needs children. I don't know of any other summer camp that does this, and the results show. The counselors learn and improve many skills that they can use while working with the children and even beyond. The directors and counselors know each other and their strengths, and thus can ensure that various groups of campers are led by the appropriate counselors. They even had a counselor with Down's Syndrome - her duties (helping with young campers, teaching easy juggling, etc) played to her strengths and abilities. Many of the counselors return every summer...after attending the Youth Leadership Training sessions. I highly recommend the Magic Camp - they truly work magic with kids!
