We are a day hab facility that serves adults that are mentally challanged. We are a ministry of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, but a privately owned company. Our beautiful facility is on the 4 acre grounds of Holy Cross located at 4622 South Lamar between Westgate and Brodie on the feeder rd. next to Boat Town. Our no. is 512-423-9176 and the Executive Director is Peggy Hicks. The Retreat is designed like a park on the interior, with soft blue walls and ceiling and clouds painted on the ceiling , large fresh water fish aquarium, Love Birds (2) that sing throughout the day and a screen porch will soon be added. There is a volleyball area, 4 acres to walk, a variety of classes held each day that are suited for the needs of clients attending, crafts, story reading by staff and on Friday popcorn that is popped in old fashion real movie popper and cold drinks are served, along with an exciting movie. Cake and ice cream are served once a month to celebrate birthdays in that month, Bingo, coloring, math books and word books for those who are able to participate and staff works with client . Our special needs clients who are wheelchair bound, need diaper changes and/or fed by staff are our specialty. Mr and Mrs Hicks keep a watchful eye at The Retreat every day and have been in business for 4 1/2 years. Our goal is to see that all have fun, relaxation, laughter, learn and meet new friends, socialize and enjoy their day at The Retreat.. We want everyone to look forward to coming.
